Gullah Cemetery Cleanup Day
Saturday the Webb Tract Cemetery on Daufuskie Island received overdue attention from a group coordinated by Galen Miller, Chairman of the Board of Hilton Head MLK Committee for Justice (HH MLK CFJ). Along with the HH MLK CFJ, the group consisted of volunteers from the Daufuskie Island Gullah Heritage Society, Hilton Head Gullah Cemetery Preservation, and Daufuskie Island residents. Haig Point Club provided ferry transportation, resident Sallie Ann Robinson provided bus transportation and Haig Point Foundation provided lunch for all volunteers that came for a day of pruning, raking and hauling debris away, helping restore another island cemetery.

Giving Tuesday
On this #GivingTuesday, the Haig Point Foundation wants to express its thanks to everyone who has donated to us throughout the year and to those that have participated in our fundraising events. We are grateful for both the generosity of all of the auction bidders as well as the auction item donors who contributed to the success of our recent Fall Fundraiser, helping us attain 92% of our fundraising goal to date. This also includes those that made donations to our General Fund and our Scholarship Fund during and since that time which added to its success.
For anyone who has yet to participate, we encourage you to consider making a gift in support of our nonprofit Haig Point Foundation, supporting Daufuskie Island through the preservation of green space, community enhancements, and other special needs, including our Scholarship Fund and Emergency Relief Fund.
Haig Point Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

2nd Annual Fundraising Auction - Four Ways to Get Involved
During last year’s inaugural auction event, the Foundation raised over $25,000 to support its mission of serving Daufuskie Island. Our immense impact over the past year has funded over $12k in scholarships to island residents and/or staff, as well as, ten different grant requests from Daufuskie Island nonprofits and several island projects that came to our attention.
All of this would not be possible without your financial support, particularly during our annual Virtual Silent Auction. Our 2nd Annual event promises to be even bigger and better. From November 13 – 19, 2022 we’ll make items and experiences available for auction online. And for those of you who’ll be on-island, you’ll have an opportunity to attend a special kickoff event on November 13th.
Here are four ways you can get involved:
Donate an Auction Item
Categories include Art, Sports, Holiday Shopping, Experiences, and Wine. We continue to add items to the collection for bidders. So please reach out to info@haigpointfoundation.org if you have something you’d like to donate. Receipts for your tax-deductible donation will be issued.
Volunteer - Help Us Solicit Items
Don’t have anything to donate? Don’t let that stop you from volunteering some time on our auction Fundraising Committee and asking your most frequented establishments to donate an item or gift certificate. Email info@haigpointfoundation.org for a brochure, and donor packet for interested businesses or individuals.
Participate In-Person and/or Online
The Auction will run from November 13th – 19th, with a kickoff event on Daufuskie Island taking place on the evening of the 13th. More Details to follow!
