Did You Know?

The Haig Point Foundations accepts grants and reviews applications twice a year to support island community enhancements.  Most recently, the HP Foundation approved nearly $40,000 for improvements on Daufuskie Island. 

 

The Haig Point Foundation awarded the following grants to worthy island causes including:

  • Daufuskie Island Historical Foundation – Museum restoration and improvements

  • Daufuskie Island Fire Department – Equipment (struts) that will help stabilize vehicles involved in accidents

  • Daufuskie Island Community Foundation – Seed money for island cemetery renovation including a survey for future improvements and restoration

  • Daufuskie Island Independent School – Supplies including desks, chairs, storage shelving, art stations, and school improvements for the ‘24-25 school year

  • Daufuskie Island Turtle Conservation – DNA testing which will help gather information and trends for annual turtle nesting on the island

  • Volunteers In Medicine – Start-up costs for the new VIM medical clinic soon to open on  Daufuskie Island
