We all are focused on how COVID-19 is affecting the entire world, as well as our individual lives. The Haig Point Foundation is closely monitoring the impact on Daufuskie Island in particular. Our Board deeply cares about the health and well-being of our fellow islanders, and we intend to do what we can in helping the island recover from this crisis.
When the Haig Point Foundation was established, we made it a priority to build a $50,000 emergency reserve to be immediately available for urgent needs. We are extremely grateful that our donors helped us quickly reach that important milestone, so we now have the resources to make a difference.
We are coordinating our efforts with other charities serving Daufuskie Island to determine how we can best help. We plan to support our island and welcome your thoughts and suggestions. Please email info@haigpointfoundation.org with any specific recommendations on how you think we can help.
Expect further updates from our Board in the coming weeks, including how we may engage you for additional fundraising efforts specific to this cause. As you may recall, our mission is… To engage Haig Point Members in supporting Daufuskie Island through preservation of green space, community enhancements, and other special needs. This pandemic certainly qualifies as a special need.
We are also putting the finishing touches on our first annual report, which will give you a better understanding of our activities. We plan to issue it shortly.
Please stay safe. Together we’ll get through this!
